What Is Body Sculpting?

Body sculpting refers to a controlled fat loss and contouring process. This non-surgical procedure safely removes stubborn fat deposits. Body sculpting is a great option if you are having trouble losing fat around your stomach and other areas. This procedure creates a more defined shape.

Traditional body sculpting uses an in-invasive procedure such as liposuction. The skin is incised at the surface. The doctor will drain excess fat using controlled equipment. This is a long procedure. The doctor then sends you home, and you have to go through a painful recovery. Non-surgical body sculpting is different.

How Body Sculpting Is Done

This procedure is recommended to anyone who has stubborn fat that does not respond to diet or exercise. During your consultation, you can discuss your lifestyle and habits with the team of experts. Your past medical records and health concerns should be shared. If you are determined to be a good candidate for treatment, we may schedule or give you treatment.

The Benefits of Body Sculpting

Body sculpting is achieved by using controlled processes under the skin. The body is stimulated to naturally eliminate the fat cells affected by this treatment. This treatment may not be suitable for overweight or obese people. It’s an excellent option for people who have excess fat.

Types Of Body Sculpting Procedures

#1 Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis is a process that destroys fat cells by freezing them. It is commonly known by the name CoolSculpting, an Allergan product. It is safe enough to freeze fat at a temperature that won’t cause skin damage, making it an excellent option for contouring areas that are difficult to exercise or diet.

CoolSculpting uses a machine that suckers up problematic areas, such as the stomach, thighs or butt. These areas are then cooled to the right temperature and the fat cells are left frozen.

Although CoolSculpting can reduce body fat by 20-25% in certain areas, it is not an instant process. Massage can help speed up results.

Sessions cost between $2,000 and $4,000

Side effects: Some patients may feel a tugging at the target area, pain, or stinging. There may also be temporary redness, swelling, or other symptoms. These symptoms will usually disappear within three to eleven days.

#2 Laser Fat Reduction

Body contouring can be done by heat as well. Laser fat reduction is often called SculpSure(r), a CYNOSURE product. It uses wavelengths to heat fat cells until they are inhospitable.

The heat is safe for skin and internal organs. However, it remains hot enough (107.6 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit), to burn stubborn fat. The cosmetic procedure should be completed in 25 minutes. Fat cells around the area will begin to fall after that. It can take approximately 12 weeks for the lymphatic system and loose skin to completely flush out all the fat cells.

Sessions cost $1,400 to $1.500

Side effects: There may be minor discomfort during the procedure, but this will usually disappear once it is over. You may feel mild stiffness or bruising around the targeted areas for a few days after undergoing heated body contouring.

#3 Ultra-Low Fat Reduction

Ultrasound fat reduction uses ultra-focused sonic waves to break down fat cells. This is done by rubbing your abdomen.

FDA-approved ultrasound fat-reduction treatments include UltraShape, a pulsed ultrasound technology, and Liposonix, a high-intensity focused ultrasound.

Each session costs approximately $1,300. The type of machine used and the work performed can affect the cost.

Side effects: Ultrasonic radiofrequency body shaping will produce similar side effects to a heated treatment. The body contour procedure can cause a hot sensation and sweaty areas.

#4 Deoxycholic Acid IV Injections

The body naturally produces deoxycholic acid, which helps to break down fats during digestion. This acid can be used to target areas for body shaping purposes using a needle.

This is the only nonsurgical form of body sculpting that requires injections. The procedure will usually be performed under local anesthesia. Kybella(r), an Allergan product, is the FDA-approved brand for deoxycholic acid injections. It can be used under the chin only.

For optimal results, 59% of Kybella injections recipients required six sessions. Six sessions are required.

Prices range from $1,200 to $1.800, depending on what fees your technician charges.

Side effects: This type of treatment can cause swelling, pain, and bruising. These side effects, if mild, will usually disappear within a week to two. Although it is rare for this procedure to cause jaw movement problems, it is not common.

#5 Muscle Stimulation

Toning the abdominal or arm muscles is the final stage of body shaping. The use of electromagnetic energy to stimulate the muscles with electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is essentially the same as exercise. These contractions can cause microtears in the muscles and fat consumption. This process can build muscle over time in the same manner as a workout routine, but without the sweating.

CoolSculpting and other brands have entered the muscle toning industry with their own procedure, CoolTone(r), which is an Allergan product. CoolTone uses deep penetration of the body’s fat layer and cooling technology to build muscle tone.

The cost ranges from $500 to $600. To achieve the desired results, you will need at least four sessions.

Side effects: Involuntary twitching is the most common side effect from EMS. Although muscle pain and skin reddening are possible side effects of EMS, they should not be severe or last for a prolonged period. A muscle stimulation procedure can cause side effects similar to a workout that causes tenderness.

# 6 EMSCULPT

EMSCULPT NEO is based on an applicator simultaneously emitting  synchronized RF and HIFEM+ energies.

Due to the radiofrequency heating, the muscle temperature quickly raises by several degrees. This prepares muscles for exposure to stress, similar to what a warm up activity does before any workout. In less than 4 minutes, the temperature in subcutaneous fat reaches levels that cause apoptosis, i.e. fat cells are permanently damaged and slowly removed from the body. Clinical studies showed on average a 30% reduction in subcutaneous fat.*

Bypassing the brain limitations, HIFEM+ energy contracts the muscle fibers in the area at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workout. Extreme stress forces the muscle to adapt resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscle fibers and cells. Clinical studies* showed on average a 25% growth in muscle volume.
