How do these treatments work?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, fat-reduction alternative to traditional weight loss. It helps to reduce subcutaneous fat by freezing fat cells, Cryolipolysis, and breaking them down, which leads to your body processing and disposing of them naturally. All of this is done in a non-invasive, controlled process that permanently destroys fat cells without causing damage to nerves, muscles, or skin.

EMScuplt is a non-invasive fat-reduction process that works using high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (the EM in EMSculpt). This energy works within the muscles to promote muscle growth, this BOTH increases muscle mass and reduces fat. As we exercise our muscles are broken down, resulting in them rebuilding stronger with more definition. One session of EMScuplt, lasting typically around 30 minutes, is equal to doing 20,000 squats, or 20,000 traditional crunches. EMSculpt uses supramaximal contractions within muscles at a more intense rate, and more effectively than any session at a gym. All of this is non-invasive, with no downtime.

What works best for what body types?

CoolSculpting works well for people who have a higher BMI, Body Mass Index, a measure using a person’s weight divided by their height in square meters. It can be used to target a range of body areas to remove stubborn body fat. If you are considered overweight or obese CoolSculpting may be right for you. It can be used to target:

  • Stomach and Abdomen
  • Buttocks and under-buttock area
  • Double Chin
  • Thighs and Upper Arms
  • Bra and Back Fat.

EMSculpting works well for people who wish to further define their muscles while reducing body fat. If you are already active, want to increase your results, and clear stubborn excess fat, EMSculpting will be a good fit for you. Although EMSculpt can be used for BOTH fat reduction and building muscle, its treatment zone is currently limited to the following areas:

  • Stomach and Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Arms, both biceps and triceps
  • Calve Muscles in Legs

How many sessions and how do they last?

CoolSculpting treatments can last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, per targeted area. For some patients two treatments are ideal, however, targeting more areas and particularly stubborn fat may take up to 6. These sessions will need 4 weeks in between each treatment to achieve the best results. This results in somewhere between 1 to 6 hours of treatment time overall, spaced over a longer time frame. Every patient is different and will require different treatment options. It may take several weeks for your body to process the crystallized fat cells. After one treatment patients can expect around a 25% reduction in subcutaneous fat.

EMScuplt treatments typically last around 30 minutes but will require at least 4 sessions for optimal results. The sessions will require 2 to 3 days in between. Resulting in around 2 hours of treatment time over a quicker time frame. Everybody will require slightly different treatment and there are many options for everyone. EMSculpt patients will average around a 20% reduction in fat, but where EMSculpt shines is patients also achieve a 15% increase in muscle mass, within their targeted zones. These results can be expected after 4 weeks of finishing treatments. Recently EMSculpt began offering a newer, improved version of the classic treatment, called EMSculpt NEO. Patients typically see a 35% reduction in fat and a 25% increase in muscle mass, after around 3 months of treatment.

How long do results last?

CoolSculpting may take several weeks for results to be noticeable, though some see results after the first sessions. With the implementation of a healthy lifestyle and exercise, these results will become indefinite.

EMSculpt results are similar in that, with the implementation of a healthy lifestyle and exercise, the fat loss results may be indefinite. However, the muscle gain results are currently enjoyable for around 6 months and sometimes more. It is recommended, alongside a healthy lifestyle, that patients have follow-up sessions every few months to maintain and increase their current muscle gain results.

Can you do both?

In short, yes you can. For results across multiple areas of the body, both CoolSculpting and EMSculpting may be ideal. For both fat minimization and muscle gain/definition EMSculpt is what you need. For heavier areas of fat reduction, across larger areas of the body, CoolSculpting is needed. CoolSculpting can be used in areas not currently available to the EMSculpting strategy. After overall fat reduction via Coolsculpting, EMSculpt can be used to further define muscle, further reduce fat in stubborn areas, and achieve the ideal body shape you envision. Using both may not be suitable for some but can allow for a more strategic detailed approach to reaching your weight loss goals.

Overall Resolution

While both can be used and each excels in similar areas, personally, the information points to EMSculpt be the superior option. Both CoolSculpting and EMSculpting allow for non-invasive weight loss with little to no downtime. Both can be used more effectively than many, many sessions at a gym. Both, along with healthy lifestyle choices and exercise, can result in achieving your ideal body image with semi-permanent to indefinite results. However, only EMSculpt provides both fat reduction and muscle gain, along with the further definition of existing muscles. Simply put, why do simply fat reduction when you can get both fat reduction and muscle gain from EMSculpt? It’s hard to argue that two things are often better than one. With the implementation of EMSculpts new plan NEO, increased fat reduction and muscle gain percentages, the data is hard to ignore. As the technology becomes more widespread and the target areas of the body increase, EMSculpt will lead the way in helping achieve body image goals in a non-invasive way. Both CoolSculpting and EMSculpt are magnificent, non-invasive ways to improve body image, confidence, and overall happiness with yourself. You can’t go wrong with either, honestly, we live in a wonderful time to be alive. Based on getting more results, multiple results, quicker, from one session of EMSculpt. We urge you to evaluate the merits of both CoolScultping and EMSculpt, based on your own individual needs and what you think will help continue your path to a healthier, happier lifestyle. We hope this has been of some help to you and we wish you the best on your weight loss journey.
